More than 400 Migrants Rescued off Malta

Migrants from Egypt and Somalia are among some 440 persons rescued by French NGO Doctors Without Borders in international waters off Malta Friday.
Responding to a distress alert by Alarm Phone, the MSF rescue ship Geo Barents was able to rescue a total of 440 people, including eight women and 30 children after an 11-hour operations, they said.
The other migrants hail from Syria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, and reported being at sea for over four days, the last two of which was without food or water.
The migrants declared having departed from Benghazi, Libya on Saturday April 1.
