Liberia’s Week-long Census Still a Debacle

According to local media reports, Liberia’s census of population and housing not only did not get off the ground, but it was also plagued by many problems from the start, including no money for enumerators, poor planning, and no equipment. President George Weah on Monday fired two officials of the Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-information Services (LISGIS). One of those fired is Alex Williams, deputy director general for statistics and data processing at LISGIS. VOA’s James Butty spoke with Williams.
