The latest provisional results in Liberia’s October 10 presidential elections saw no significant change from Tuesday. President George Weah maintains a very slim lead with 43.48 percent of total votes and former vice president Joseph Boakai with 43.44 percent. This makes it more likely the country will go to a runoff presidential election in November. However, perhaps the biggest surprise came from the legislative results where the speaker of the House of Representatives, Bhofal Chambers, was defeated by Anthony Williams. Chambers defeated Williams in the 2017 elections. This time, Williams tells VOA’s James Butty , he changed his strategy and moved closer to his people in Maryland County by educating them about how the government was (or was not) performing on their behalf.
