The inauguration of Liberia’s President-elect, Joseph Boakai, will take place on January 22, 2024. But first, the country’s House of Representatives must elect a speaker who will preside over the joint session of the national legislature. Representative Richard Nagbe Koon of Boakai’s Unity Party is running against Deputy House Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa of outgoing President George Weah’s Coalition for Democratic Change party. Dennise Nimspon has more from Monrovia.
