Liberia's House of Representatives on Tuesday endorsed and signed a resolution that calls for the establishment of a war and economic crimes court in Liberia. The decision to support the resolution came after a meeting with the US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice, Beth Van Schaack, and leaders of the lower chamber of parliament. The document has been forwarded to the Senate for approval.
Once established, the court will address crimes committed by individuals during the civil war that lasted from 1989 to 2003 and resulted in the loss of countless lives. Rita Jlogbe Doue has more for VOA from Monrovia.
