The United Nations released a statement Thursday noting the swift progress made in the trial of former Sudanese militia leader Ali Mohamed Ali Abdelrahman, or Ali Kushayb, but says cooperation from Sudan’s government has deteriorated. A group of U.N. Security Council members who are parties to the International Criminal Court also released a statement Wednesday noting challenges faced by the office of ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan in conducting investigations in Sudan and called upon Sudanese authorities to offer their full cooperation. VOA's Nabeel Biajo spoke with Suliman Baldo, director of Sudan Transparency, to discuss the progress made in Kushayb’s trial and the consequence of poor cooperation from the Sudanese government.
