Traders at KonyoKonyo market, one of the oldest and largest markets in South Sudan’s capital Juba, say some members of the Islamic Council are collecting land rent taxes from traders, claiming the land belongs to the council. For South Sudan in Focus, Juliana Siapai reports the Juba city mayor says the land belongs to Central Equatoria State and no group should be taxing traders owning shops at the market.
