An agreement between Kenya and Haiti to send police from the East African nation to help fight gangs in Haiti had raised hopes the Nairobi-led, UN-backed multinational peace mission could deploy soon.
However, Edgar Githua, an international relations security and diplomatic expert at the US International University in Nairobi, says that might not happen. He tells VOA’s Yeheyes Wuhib that a court decision put the brakes on the deployment, and once the Kenyan government overcomes the legal hurdles, he says it can move ahead with the planned deployment.
