Israel’s cabinet has approved a deal to release hostages seized by Hamas in exchange for a pause in fighting in Gaza, which could begin as early as Friday morning. In an exclusive interview Wednesday, Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy spoke to VOA’s Carol Van Dam about a four-day pause in the fighting, but he begins by describing Israel’s reaction to recent satellite imaging over Gaza which researchers tell VOA shows that 40 to 51% of buildings in Northern Gaza have been damaged or destroyed since the war began.
