Analysis: IGAD Countries Convene to Address Sudan Conflict [5:51]

Intergovernmental Authority on Development, IGAD, leaders met in Addis Abab Monday to discuss efforts to end Sudan’s nearly 3-month-old conflict. The meeting was chaired by Kenyan President William Ruto, the head of the IGAD quartet of countries, and attended by regional and Western leaders, as well as a representative of Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. Sudan’s army was not present. Sudan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said it sent a delegation but was disappointed that Ruto was leading the delegation instead of South Sudanese President Salva Kiir — as Sudan army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan requested.
