An assault on an International Committee of the Red Cross humanitarian convoy in Khartoum claimed two lives and left seven others injured on Sunday. Local and wire reports cited sources within the Sudan Armed Forces, who blamed the ICRC for violating the terms of an evacuation operation that led to the attack. Speaking to VOA, Alyona Synenko, ICRC Spokesperson for Africa, condemned the incident calling for the protection of humanitarian workers from Sudan’s warring factions.
