Human Rights Watch deputy director Nicole Widdersheim says the consequences would be "heart wrenching" if Sudanese paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces, or RSF, has taken control of the nation’s second largest city, Nyala, as it claimed last week. RSF has been fighting Sudan’s army for control of the country since April. Widdersheim tells VOA's Carol Van Dam Nyala is an economic hub and has been a refuge to hundreds of thousands of displaced people for over 20 years.
