HRW Condemns Widespread Abuses in S.Sudan

Mausi Segun, executive director of the Human Rights Watch’s African Division, recently met with South Sudanese government officials to discuss the worsening human rights situation the country. Segun expressed disappointed by the lack of commitment from South Sudanese officials to address widespread abuses in the country, adding repressive laws have shrunk civic space in South Sudan. She spoke to VOA’s John Tanza on the self-censorship of journalists, human rights activists and rights defenders.
