Group that works to end mass atrocities has a blueprint for peace in Sudan

19 months into Sudan’s war, the Rapid Support Forces, Sudanese Armed Forces, and their allies continue to attack and target civilians in violation of international law. The group Preventing and Ending Mass Atrocities or PAEMA recently released a blueprint to put Sudan on a path to peace. Its Executive Director, Lauren Fortgang tells VOA’s Carol Van Dam the United Nations Secretary-General agrees that Sudan needs an independent, physical presence to protect civilians, but PAEMA believes that should happen before a ceasefire is reached between the warring parties.
