Attempted Coup Foiled in The Gambia: Authorities

The government of The Gambia says it has arrested four soldiers linked to an alleged plot to overthrow President Adama Barrow’s administration. The government says it is also pursuing other accomplices who, it says, are on the run. Barrow came to power in 2016 after defeating long-time ruler Yahya Jammeh in elections. People have grown frustrated with the administration’s failure to reduce poverty and the rising cost of living. VOA’s James Butty spoke with government spokesperson Ebrima Sankareh.
