The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, is warning of a possible imminent massacre in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. Clashes have intensified between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces around the town. El Fasher stands as the sole major town in Darfur yet to fall under the control of the paramilitary troops and has served as a haven for hundreds of thousands of displaced people fleeing violence in the region. VOA's Nabeel Biajo interviewed Suliman Baldo, director of Sudan Transparency and Policy Tracker. He began by highlighting the recent capture of Mellit, another strategic town in North Darfur State, by the RSF as it tightened the siege on El Fasher.
