Campaigning for Eswatini’s August 23 parliamentary primary elections is underway. Analysts say polls there are not democratic because candidates associated with political parties are not allowed to participate. Also, King Mswati III last week cautioned aspiring candidates for parliament to stop committing ritual murders to boost their chances of being elected. The king said there were many stories of ritualistic killings during national elections, specifically, the killing of people with albinism. Eswatini government spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo, tells VOA’s James Butty, the king advised against such practice because it reflects negatively on the country.
