A high-level delegation from the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC) of Guinea, led by the group’s National Coordinator, has been holding discussions at the United Nations. The FNDC and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are pressing the military junta, led by Colonel Mamady Doumboya, to return Guinea to democratic rule. The military has banned the FNDC for allegedly organizing armed demonstrations. Alpha Fria Barry, a founding member of the party, tells VOA’s James Butty, the FNDC delegation has been explaining its proposals for overcoming the crisis in Guinea, emphasizing the importance of an inclusive and peaceful dialogue.
