DRC reverses call for UN peacekeepers exit in North Kivu

The Democratic Republic of Congo says it will not require the withdrawal of UN peacekeepers from its North Kivu province due to the presence of Rwandan forces and Rwanda-backed M23 rebels. The French News Agency (AFP) quotes the country’s foreign minister as saying the situation in the east of the country was not conducive for a troop pullout. Reporter Al Katanty Sabiti Djaffar in the eastern DRC city of Goma, tells VOA's James Butty, local people do not approve of an extended stay for the peacekeepers.
