Eyewitnesses in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo said a convoy of UN peacekeepers clashed on Tuesday evening with protestors in Goma and resulted in demonstrators setting three peacekeeping trucks on fire, while being fired at by the UN personnel who were trying to disperse the crowd.
Eyewitnesses add that the confrontation occurred amid the second day of protests by demonstrators who said they were frustrated by what they alleged was inaction by peacekeepers to take on M23 rebels.
