Botswana says no to hosting a UN conference

Botswana’s new government has decided against hosting a UN conference for landlocked developing countries that was planned for next month. The administration that came into power following elections on October 30 says it found the state coffers almost empty, so there’s no budget to host a meeting that would have attracted 6,000 delegates from around the world.
