$2.2 billion pledged at Inaugural Africa clean cooking summit

World Leaders on Tuesday pledged $2.2 Billion For Clean Cooking in Africa. The International Energy Agency says it convened global leaders for the Clean Cooking Summit in Paris to make 2024 a turning point for progress. According to the agency, in rural areas, Africans are using traditional cooking methods which however are harmful for health. Over 60 countries, developments institutions and companies pledged to finance access to clean cooking solutions in Africa and reduce the collateral health and environmental risks related to harmful cooking methods. VOA’s Douglas Mpuga reached Jackson Koimbori - a senior circular economy and climate change coordinator at Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) to find out the importance of clean cooking in Africa.
