South Africa celebrated their Women's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) success with cheering fans on Tuesday after flying back to Johannesburg.

"We are here to welcome back our girls! Go Banyana Banyana! We are really happy to see them back home. We are proud of them, we are proud of our coach. Hallelujah," said Ofentse Sefamela, a fan of the South African women's team.

South Africa Celebrates First Women’s Team AFCON Victory

'Banyana Banyana' beat hosts Morocco 2-1 in Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations final - Hildah Magaia scoring twice in the span of eight second-half minutes - to win the tournament for the first time.

But if the AFCON victory and their fans' love wasn't enough of a prize, the squad were also awarded a 5.8-million rand bonus ($339,000 US dollars) by the country's minister for sports, arts and agriculture during Tuesday's celebrations.

South Africa, Nigeria and Zambia will represent Africa at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.
