The Giant Impact Theory proposes that the moon was made from the debris left after a collision between Earth and Theia — a Mars-sized protoplanet — 4.5 billion years ago. For Science in a Minute, VOA's Rick Panteleo reports that researchers theorize that chunks of Theia made their way into Earth.
