Analysis: Sudan unable to utilize key farming region due to ongoing war

The war in Sudan has spread to the country’s southeastern states, Sennar, White Nile, and Blue Nile, severely impacting many of nation’s key food production areas. Unable to draw from the available farmland, aid organizations are finding it increasingly difficult to help Sudan’s most vulnerable. For a look into the conditions the groups are facing, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Melaku Yirga, Mercy Corps’ Regional Director for East and Southern Africa, who has spent weeks in various locations in Sudan to assess the needs of civilians.
