BRICS member nations met earlier this week to discuss a variety of financial measures in the New Year. One of them was the decision to admit new African member states into the organization. Another was the consideration of removing the United States dollar as a reserve and trading currency. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Sombo Muzata, an assistant professor of politics at James Madison University on how such measures could impact global markets.
