At COP29 in Baku, world leaders are looking at striking a deal on spending billions of dollars to help poor countries reduce and adapt to climate change. Carlo Buontempo, Director of Copernicus, the European Climate Change Service, tells VOA’s Carol Van Dam the goal remains the same as the first conference 30 years ago: to avoid catastrophic harm to the planet nations must focus on reducing global warming below 1.5 Celsius.
