African Leaders Push Carbon Credits to Fight Climate Change

African leaders are pushing for market-based financing instruments, such as carbon credits, to mobilize funding which they say takes longer to get to them from donors to fight climate change. In the first-ever African Climate Summit in Nairobi, leaders highlighted the effects of the phenomenon on the continent, even though Africa contributes to it the least. At the same time, activists in Nairobi protested their exclusion from the summit. Maureen Ojiambo reports.
