Hospitals, financial institutions, schools, the power grid, airports, government offices and other key enterprises are shut down as Nigeria workers commence a nationwide strike. In South Africa, talks to form a coalition government have begun after the African National Congress won just 40 percent of the vote in last week’s election, ending its one-party rule since apartheid ended 30 years ago. The U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello is urging the international community to support aid organizations and the informal community groups in Sudan who are saving lives.
