Abuja Fingers DAESH For Owo Massacre

Nigerian authorities have blamed a faction of the Islamic State for the Sunday, June 5 massacre of worshipers at an Owo Catholic Church.

Nigeria's National Security Council announced Thursday that it believes a group called the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) was the perpetrator of the Sunday, June 5 attack on a Catholic Church in the southwest town of Owo that killed at least 38 people.

So far, no arrests have been made, but Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola said the "Council is quite concerned about the violent attack in Ondo State, and we have been able to locate the perpetrators."

He added "We have zeroed it [in] that ISWAP did ti, the animals in ISWAP wanting attention are responsible."

Aregnbesola closed it with "We have asked security pesonnel to go after them and bring them to justice."

The interior minister said he presently has no information that the massacre had religious or ethnic aspects.

So far, the Islamic State or "DAESH" group ISWAP has yet to claim responsibility.
