Science in a Minute: Astronomers Identify Life Building Molecules in Planet Forming Disks

An international team of astronomers with the Molecules with ALMA at Planet-forming Scales or MAPS program, have identified what they call significantly large pools of organic molecules within planet-forming disks surrounding young stars. The team refers to the molecules as precursors necessary for forming the basis of life.
