For the first time in history, the United States House of Representatives voted to remove Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy Tuesday night after hardline Republican congressman Matt Gaetz forced a procedural motion to vacate the position. There is no clear consensus on McCarthy’s replacement, with many lawmakers vying for the position.
