Ugandan opposition Bisigye in jail, court considers lawyer’s certificate
Ugandan opposition Dr. Kizza Besigye and his co-accused remained in jailed Monday. This, after the military court adjourned Monday to process the practicing certificate of Kenyan lawyer Martha Karua. She has been appointed to lead a team of lawyers to defend Dr. Besigye who, according to his wife, was kidnapped in Kenya and brought back to Uganda. He and another defendant are charged with unlawful possession of ammunition and a firearm. Karua tells VOA’s James Butty, she hopes to get a response from the court by Tuesday.
