South Africa’s labor union expresses support for unity government
A spokesperson for the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), a close ally of the African National Congress (ANC), says the group looks forward to working with the Government of National Unity when it is finally formed. Acting spokesperson Matthew Parks says COSATU realizes it will have to work a little harder for the workers of South Africa, given the reality of the power-sharing government created by the May 29 election. He tells VOA’s James Butty that while COSATU is disappointed the ANC did not win convincingly, it is happy the party is forming a government of national unity.
