Most Rwandans will begin voting Monday in presidential and parliamentary elections. President Paul Kagame, who has ruled the country since 2000, is seeking another term. He is being challenged by only two candidates. Several other candidates, including two prominent females, were denied the right to participate. Campaigning ended on Saturday, and diaspora Rwandans voted yesterday Sunday. Sixbert Musangamfura, secretary general of Ishakwe Rwanda Freedom Movement opposition party in exile, tells VOA’s James Butty, he did not vote because in his view, the results are predetermined.
