Unknown gunmen attacked a market in Nigeria' Sokoto’s state on Sunday, killing an estimated 40 people. Nigerian authorities confirmed the attack at Goronyo market, about 90 Kilometers from the capital.
Local media reported residents as saying mostly traders were killed in the attack and some people were still missing.
VOA's Mike Mbonye spoke with Bashir Achida, a senior lecturer in the department of economics at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, about the details of the incident.
