Malawi’s ruling party endorses President Chakwera as 2025 candidate
The governing Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has endorsed its leader, Lazarus Chakwera, as its presidential candidate for next year's elections, scheduled for September. The party made the announcement on Saturday at the close of its three-day convention when it elected new members to its executive committee. Chakwera has declared victory for the next year’s polls. But some political analysts caution that it is too early for President Chakwera to declare victory in next year’s elections, as his main challenger remains unclear. Lameck Masina reports
