Kenya adopts technology to fight maternal mortality
Maternal mortality remains a key issue affecting women of reproductive age in Kenya. The Ministry of Health says more than 6,000 women die in Kenya each year due to poor access to maternal health facilities. To help, new technology developed by university students is helping healthcare workers remotely monitor conditions of pregnant women and their children without physical visits to hospital.
