ECOWAS Official Weighs In on Sahel Alliance
An ECOWAS official says the body stands by its decision that any member state that wants to leave the regional bloc must give one year's notice. Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger said over the weekend they have formed an Alliance of Sahel States and are pulling out of ECOWAS. Abdel Fatau Musah, ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs and Security says the three nations have until early next year to reverse course. Musah tells host James Butty the regional body has asked Senegal's President to engage with the three junta leaders.
